I slept throughout the morning
The sun was yellow bright
Through the panes it shone
And shadows shaped the blinds.
I think it was a dream
The black bird I had seen
the shadow that it cast
upon my plain-white wall.
And I slowly turned
My gaze so I can see
The giant bird that cast
Gargantuan imagery.
On its beak were taut
Orange stripes and white
All throughout the beak
And pinions black as night.
Giant is the pain;
Meager I have felt.
As an ant I saw
My predator, my prey.
